My Little Cutie is 3!!!

My little man turned three on Saturday. With the recent birth of Paige, it is hard to remeber Dane before he starting talking, much less, when he weighed 7 lbs! Dane is my bouncing ball of joy. He teaches me daily about life and brings joy to my heart regarding the smallest of things. Thank you God for my Dane Ryan! Here are some events from the big day...

So this next part needs some explaining....Dane had his party at Boomerang's where the mascot is a giant kanagroo. Dane loves the Kangaroo and wanted "Mr. Kangaroo" to come into the party room...but as you can see...he wanted him to stay by the door and not come to close. The pictures tell a pretty good story...

She is a little angel sent to us from above. She is so laid back! She is a great sleeper and eater, what more can a new mom ask for? We are all learning about life with a girl! When I asked Dane if he thought Paige was pretty, he replied, "Well, she doesn't have earrings on." Dane loves being the BIG brother and loves to kiss and hold his little sister. Mommy and Daddy have completely fallen for this little girl! I think we are still a little in shock!!

Our precious baby that is due at the end of the month is raising my blood pressure. In an effort not have to have an early induction, I am at home for the rest of my days before his/her arrival. I am right at 37 weeks, so we should have a very special announcement here in the next couple of weeks! Dane is very excited about the arrival of the new one, but probably more excited about being Spiderman for Halloween. Lol! I promise to get some new pics on here soon!

Rangers Buddies

We took Dane to the Rangers game this last week. He had a blast eating his hotdog, nachos and cotton candy. It turned out to be a long game and so about the 7th inning I asked Dane if he was ready to go home? He replied, "Mommy, the game is not over!" Well excuse me! Dane not only stayed for the end of the game but he and Daddy went over and "made TV" by getting on Rangers Live after the game. There were many Ranger homeruns in the game which means lots of fireworks! We had a blast watching Dane enjoy himself so much!

Potty Training

We have been potty training for about the last 3 weeks. Most days Dane does a fabulous job. We have transitioned this week from pull-ups in the daytime to "big boy underwear." Dane was really into getting his picture made in them. Brad will probably kill me for posting this, but it's too funny not to share...

Possum Kingdom and Fishing

At the end of May we went to Possum Kingdom Lake with some good friends from church. These pictures were snapped of Dane and Brad. The pictures so capture this time and place, thanks Cory!!

Brad has also purchased a boat slip at Lake Grapevine for fishing. Dane will literally sit for 2-3 hours and cast and catch without wanting to get up, eat or drink. He really is his father's son!! I will have to snap a few pics of him down at Grapevine next time we go.

Sister Trip

My sisters and I went to San Antonio for Soney's graduation from Tech! We had a blast. We shared lots of laughs and stories! It was nice to be on a trip with just the girls.

Eating at the Gristmill in Gruene!

We stayed the first night at the San Antonio Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa. It was divine, complete with a 900 ft. Rambling River (more like lazy river!)

We ate at a variety of places in and around San Antonio, and of course had to eat on the Riverwalk one night too. Food was good and the tea was to die for....what more can a pregnant girl want than good tea??

Some Updates

I have not been good about updating the site lately! I would like to share a few touching moments lately and also some funnies! I will post some pics sometime soon! Forgive any typos as I am tired!

A few days ago I was rocking Dane and we were singing some of his favorites, Deep and Wide, Twinkle, Twinkle and another song which he asks for nightly called The Dane Ryan Song (one that I obviously made up!). It is the most simple song, but says his name a lot so he really likes it. After several rounds of each song, I was quietly rocking my little guy. Several minutes passed and then Dane lifted his head and looked right at me and asked, "Mommy, God made me?" I was stuned and almost broke into tears. My little boy was actually prosessing this and thinking about it enough to pose the question to me. The day before we had been going through the list, God made....We had not discussed anything of the sort that day at all. I am amazed!

A funny:
On Friday we visited an ENT for a evaluation. As I suspected, he recommended tubes based on the pressure in Dane's ears and his infection log. On Friday night we went to eat with my mom, sister and grandparents. I told Dane, "Tell Poppie what you are going to get in your ears!" Dane looked straight at her and said, "Boobs." I thought the entire table was going to either spew the drink in their mouth or choke on the food. We laughed so hard!

Another cute story is that we are really working with Dane on responding to adults with "Yes/No M'am and Yes/No Sir." A few weeks ago Dane was answering my dad with, "Yes M'am." I would explain that PaPa was a Sir and that he should say Sir to him since he is a boy. The next day Dane's babysitter was taking her daily meds in the kitchen and in walked Dane. Dane asked her, "Bisa you take medicine?" She answered, "Yes Dane, I am taking medicine." Dane looked up at her and said, "You say yes Sir!" Theresa (Bisa) called me at work to share this story and we have all laughed multiple times about it!

Dane is so into make-believe right now. He loves to look for and "shoot" bad guys and monsters. He will run around and look for monsters anywhere he goes. He loves to take a flashlight into a dark room and seek them out. Being one of three girls, all of this type play is new to me. He loves to run around in circles and tackle Brad as soon as he gets home from work. He is still into Elmo big time and wants to watch at least one Elmo DVD daily (fun for me!??!!) He is really loving reading too. He will sit through fairly long stories and doesn't just care about the pictures, but wants to hear what will happen next.

Here are only some of the sentences my little man is saying:
"I a big boy."
"Mommy, you need a pankin (spanking)."
"Jesus is God's son."
"Mommy, what you and Daddy talkin' bout?" (anytime Brad and I carry on a conversation).
He knows that Mommy's name is "Whity" and Daddy's name is "Brad"

30th Birthday Bashing...

We knew it would happen we just didn't know when. The TP Bandits came out in full force to wreck havoc on our house. Brad caught them in the act, yet it didn't slow them down. Unfortunately, even after this, I am still 30! Yikes!

On December 26th we left to go skiing in Ruidoso, NM. I did not take my camera to the slopes, so I will have to wait and get some of Aunt Brooke's pictures to post of Brad and I on the mountain. We had 8 inches of new snow the day we arrived! We had a good time even though Uncle Brent spent some time in the ER after his snowboarding incident...All is well!!

So, we have learned a new expression! One that Mommy is not to thrilled about. Saying yep and yes instead of yes m'am, no m'am is something I redirect gracefully on a daily basis. Well, yesterday Dane hit a ball with one of his bats and it hit the window curtain in the kitchen. What came out of my little boy's mouth made me spin around faster than I ever have before, "Oh my Gosh!" The inflection and tone in his voice as he said this 3-word sentence was that of a teenager! Then, after that reponse from Mommy, he began to say this sentence over and over. After several time outs and spankings...he decided to stop saying it....at least for a while. After dinner, Dane came up to Brad and I and said, "Ga...Ga....Ga," with big eyes that taunted us to see if we were going to say/do anything. I could not believe how smart he was to see "the line" and get as close to it as possible without going over it! Of course I can't stay mad long....here are some hysterical pics of him with a cell phone....these pictures match his "big boy" attitude! Can a two year old text and call....you better believe it! Ha!

Well, many of you have seen our church and pastor in the news lately. Without going into detail, let's just say that it is nice when something that is biblical and right makes the news. (Of course there are always those who love to put a spin on it...) I LOVE that I can invite anyone to come and know that they'll feel comfortable and that they will understand what is being said. The creative aspect of what we do at Fellowship is my favorite. The message of Christ is always presented in a creative way. From Ed's messages and throughout the music...all very well thought out and planned. I am going to add a few videos from our worship team on my blog. I hope you'll take a few minutes to view and listen. Many friends ask me what to expect if they go to one of our Christmas services. I Love...

When I think back to this time a little over two years ago, it is hard to imagine that my little turkey baby is now a walking, talking, arguing, fit-throwing(at times), little man! Dane is absolutely the joy of our lives. He is so fun to be around and if I could just bottle up his energy to sell, I'd be a rich lady! During this season I have really thanked God for the gift of my little guy. In the midst of wondering if we'd ever be blessed with a child, God answered. I will never forget the 20+ hour delivery and wondering the entire time would "it" be a boy or girl? What a great surprise he was!! Here are a few things about Dane that I just really love...silly they may be, but....anyone who is a mommy knows all the little quarks count for something!!

1. I love the way Dane's lips look when he is drinking from a straw. His whole face just curls up and he has the cutest pucker on his face.
2. I love to rock him while I still can. Although his body hangs halfway down the chair, I still enjoy a good cuddle.
3. I like it when I come in the room and he says, "My Mommy!"
4. I am enjoying the holiday season and seeing it from a child's point of view. Last night we took Dane to see "Rudolph" at Casa Manana in Ft. Worth. He watched every part of the play with such intent. I loved watching him at the production.
5. I love to tell Dane stories in a quiet whisper. He tucks his head in my neck and I whisper a story in his ear.
6. I love the way he says his name so proudly, "Dane Rynan Parnen."

On Halloween we went out for some trick-or-treating fun! Elmo went house to house with Jimbo! Dane had a blast and would go up to the houses and say, "Trick-or-Treat" and "Thank You!" As soon as we would turn to leave, he'd look up and say, "Do it again, Mommy!" We had a blast and left at 7:45 to head to Texas Stadium for the Marcus v. Flower Mound football game. Dane was too funny cheering as the players came onto the field. You know at high school games, the players run through the big signs the cheerleaders make. Well, Dane kept saying, "Run through the paper!" That, along with the band playing at half time were his favorite parts of the game. It turned out to be a great game....We stayed the entire game and it went to OT! Marcus came out with the win, yea!!! Dane never fell asleep, even at 11:30 on the way home, he was full of energy and singing his ABC song!!

The State Fair

We ventured out to the Fair this year. Brad and I have never been to the Fair together. The last time I remember going was in high school! We had a good time. Dane was able to ride his first ride all by himself. He loved the little boats and of course the carousel. Brad won a big stuffed puppy for Dane in hoops and Dane also enjoyed the corn on the cob! Yum! I think Dane's favorite part of the fair besides the animals was the midway. He was amazed by all the sounds, lights and motion. He would see something he wanted to try (like the giant slide that Brad took Dane down on a burlap sack) and would say his newest phrase, "Mommy, ight back." (Mommy, right back!) He points his pointer finger and says this phrase many times a day when he needs to go check something out! Too cute!

Okay, so rhyming is confusing to my 20 month old, go figure??? Until now he knew about and could name trains and planes! Now he seems to be confused! We were watching a program earlier on TV about airplanes. Dane looked directly at the screen and said, "Choo Choo Plane!" No matter how many corrections I gave, including going to find trains in the toy box.....it didn't matter! Apparently both words have Choo Choo in front of them!

Gulf Shores Vacation

We had a blast at the Parlin Reunion in Gulf Shores this past week. It was wonderful getting to catch up with all that has been going on with all of the Parlin's. In all, a little under 50 were in attendance. We stayed in a 12 bedroom house right on the beach. Dane lived it up playing with all his cousins! A stomach virus went through about 10 of our family members while we were there. Brad and Dane were two of the unlucky ones to get the virus. They both handled it like champs. I am sad that we did not get a chance to have our picture on the beach in our awesome reunion shirts as everyone else did. We will just have to do them now that we are back. Dane had his two favorite things: water and balls!! What a fun time of cathching up and relaxation (kinda) on the beach!! Dane loved looking for "bish" in the water and splashing constantly. He is absolutely so busy all the time and it is interesting to see him learning 24/7. Shells were something he collected while we were at the beach and he also saw his first of many jellyfish. Uncle Scott won the "best dad" award because he captured a live jellyfish before Brad did, so he said he won....you know the Parlin's...everything is a contest, and I mean EVERYTHING!!

You Are My Sunshine

Dane is growing up too fast. The old cliché' is true, time does fly. I have loved being at home these last few weeks with my little man. We leave tomorrow for a week at the beach. Lately, Dane is really getting into a silly boy phase. He laughs at himself constantly (he must be related to his father??) When he is playing he will say, "Mommy, sit down!" and pat the ground next to him as if to clear way for me to come play. Another recent short sentence is "Ove You." This is Dane's version of "Love You!" Life before Dane remains a far distant memory lost in another land and time. I have taken a few pictures recently where I have looked and glimpsed into the future. In a few shots, it is like I can see what Dane will look like when he's 10. That time will be here before I know it. Words cannot describe a mother's love for her child. My own mind had a hard time comprehending the many bonds that Dane and I share. Webster's defines a blessing: a favor or gift bestowed by God, thereby bringing happiness.

We went to the Ranger game on Friday and boy did we have fun. Dane got a bobble head Hank Blalock doll and he loves it. He has not let it out of his sight and loves to call it "Blalock" or a name close to it. In the following video I was trying to get dane to talk about baseball and Blalock, but there was a monkey on the news channel at the time. He is watching that and paying attention to me at the same time, pretty funny.

Since I am on summer vacation, Dane has been attending swimming lessons. He loves the water and is now jumping to us and staying under 6-10 seconds. He loves to kick on top of the water, but has not figured it out under the water! Brad came with us one day and I snapped some cute photos of the swimming duo!

Pebble Beach

Brad and I just flew back from an amazing trip to California. Brad had the opportunity to play Pebble Beach 3 times in the last week along with Spyglass and Spanish Bay. This was a work trip and the ladies flew up Thursday and we all came back today! What a fun place. Carmel Beach is beautiful. The weather while we were there was between 65-70. It was so comfortable and not to mention absolutely breath-taking! I visited Pebble Beach Spa two days in a row...can I say HEAVEN!!! What a pampering. We were glad to get away, but missed our little guy so much. It is good to be back in the real world of "Mommy!"

Yesterday we went to the Fort Worth Zoo. We had a wonderful time, as the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Dane had a blast and was full force from 11am until we left at 4pm. Evertything at the zoo was either a fish or puppy, lol! What fun he has become. I know every stage Dane has gone through has been fun....but I think this 15/16 month phase I have enjoyed the most. He is so smart!!

Last weekend my cousin, Brandon, was married. His new wife is a treasure! Brandon has an amazing voice and surprised his bride by singing her down the aisle. Kitchen

As most of you know, Brad and I moved this past summer. We are loving our new home that has required quite a bit of TLC. I am less that an 1/2 mile to my school, it is very nice being this close. Most of our efforts have been in the kitchen. We basically have completely remodeled it. Here are the before and after pics. We still have a few items left in this room...but it has greatly improved from the 80s look that it was when we moved in!

Today, Dane and I went to visit Haley and Little Kamdyn. Dane loved spending time playing in Frisco! Kamdyn is soooo pretty, I think Dane is a little obsessed!
